we’re extremely happy to have our first featured cover artist, David Escalona, gracing our covers for the Fall 2020 issue of ArtCrawl!
We met David at a group showing of current artist residents at the ISCP in Bushwick and find him to be an extremely thoughtful artist whose work speaks to the exigencies of the toll the current global pandemic exacts on us all as individuals. Little did we know at the time we met a year ago how prescient and relevant the themes surrounding his artwork would be for our current times during this health crisis. David’s creative preoccupation with illness, mourning, and the psychic battle of convalescence will speak to many of us. He’s an artist’s artist and I’ve no doubt we’ll be seeing much more of his work in the near future.
